Nothing to do for the Alpine and the two Glickenhaus: the Toyota dominated qualifying for the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans, a 30-minute Hyperpole interrupted by a red flag for Kevin Estre’s exit from the Indianapolis stretch that damaged his Porsche 911. Kamui Kobayashi was faster than Brendon Hartley trimming the brand mate driving the twin Toyota # 8 295 thousandths. Thanks to a time of 3’23 ″ 900, Toyota # 7 will start from pole position to the delight of the Japanese and fellow crewmates Mike Conway and José Maria Lopez. Nicolas Lapierre in the Alpine stopped 1.6 seconds from the best time, with Olivier Pla’s Glickenhaus # 708 not far from the bang and slower than the French car by less than a tenth. Romain Dumas’ Glickenhaus # 709 completes the Hypercar class, three seconds behind Kobayashi’s Toyota.
