Prague – In Prague, in Jugoslávská street near the I.P. Pavlova tram stop, a passenger vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian and then crashed into a building. According to information from Twitter, rescuers treated five injured people – two from the car and three pedestrians, all of whom were conscious and out of danger. According to the police, the driver probably crashed due to a medical complication. Police spokeswoman Violeta Siřišťová told ČTK today.
The accident happened about an hour after midnight. “Most likely due to a medical complication, the driver crashed into the building and hit a pedestrian before that,” Siřišťová said. According to rescuers, the driver was convulsed after a seizure, his arms and legs were injured. One of the pedestrians also suffered more serious injuries, he had a head injury and both legs were injured. The other three patients had minor injuries.
Firefighters also intervened at the scene. “After documenting the police, we extricated the car and covered the leaked operating fluids,” they said on Twitter. Due to the accident, tram traffic was suspended in both directions for about half an hour between the I.P. Pavlova and Karlovo náměstí stops, night lines were diverted. Traffic police officers are now dealing with the circumstances of the accident, Siřišťová added.
