A neighbor from Curaco de Vélez, in Chiloé, denounced that she is desperate because a family of coypus made the nest of her under her house.
Natalia Oyarzún, 88, is involved with a family of nutria that came to live under the floor of her house. First it was a nutria, then it came out and returned seven nutria that are destroying the house.
The woman said that she is afraid that these animals will enter her house because she feels how they are making holes in the house. kitchen floor.
“I’m desperate because they won’t let me sleep at night. I’m afraid they’ll come into my kitchen and I won’t see. The Municipality had to come to solve the problem and they have not come, “she commented.
From the SAG, the deputy regional director, Cristián Andrade, said that they received the complaint and that they sent officials from Castro’s office.
“Officials went to the field (…) they noticed that there is a backyard without perimeter fences, which allows the entry of coypus and their young. The steps to follow were disclosed, which consists of installing physical barriers”.
Coypus are mammals and are the largest rodents in Chile. It lives in lagoons, rivers, lakes, estuaries and wetlands with the presence of reeds. It feeds on grasses and shrubs. It is characterized by building underground shelters for protection and breeding, litters of 1 to 13 pups.
