According to the AP agency, the thieves use scooters and have robbed at least 21 people of their expensive AirPods Max headphones since the end of January.

According to the police, the thieves still have the same modus operandi: As a rule, they work in groups of four, approach the selected victim from behind on two scooters, take the headphones from her head and drive away with them. Thefts are reported from all over Manhattan, for example, on February 8, five people lost their headphones in this way, and eight were robbed ten days later.
AirPods Max headphones are sold on the American market for $549 (CZK 12,300). . It's a model that goes over the ears, so they can be pulled off the head with one pull.
