Ignacio Nicolas Martin (24 years old) arrived in Rio Quarto at the hands of the technical authorities of the Emergency Operations Center. It was September, and the second city in the province was short of beds to attend the Covid-19 outbreak. Martin had joined a team of so-called “virus hunters” in Embera, Rio Segundo, as a volunteer. According to Diego Almada himself, a reference for the Center of Excellence, he immediately learned to survey and provided training. Months later, he confirmed he had just enrolled as a doctor and showed a card that was discovered to be fake, only in December.
This was confirmed by the head of the Provincial Medical Council Andres de Leon the sound That on December 21, the managing director of the Health Secretariat of Río Quarto informed them that Ignacio Martin had presented himself as a doctor with a DNI number and a registration number that did not match the official records (the registration belongs to a woman).
Immediately, the Board of Physicians reported the matter to the county Ministry of Health and filed the corresponding criminal complaint for illegal medical practice. According to the judicial proposal obtained by this newspaper, Martin “will find himself practicing exemplary work for a profession that requires a special license, in addition to using a foreign registration, which implies the possibility of the crime of falsifying public tools.”
De Leon stated that the entity’s goal is to stop the illegal practice of medicine, and furthermore, the highest speed is expected in the investigation of the case. It is not known if Martin was arrested, and if he is really studying or studying medicine, what will the university do about it.
At the time, he confirmed in an interview with this newspaper that he was newly registered and that in addition, he was an emergency medical technician. “We are all learning about this virus as we go forward.” And Martin, including himself in the group of professionals, testified, “I think there is no doctor who could imagine such a pandemic.
Condemnation and pardon
Diego Almada, from the Center of Excellence, told La Voz that as soon as he learned of the matter, the county health department also filed a criminal complaint (on December 22). The complaint was filed by the Regional Minister of Health, Pablo Carvajal, at the District Prosecutor’s Office of 3 Turn 2 District in the city of Cordoba.
“It was a very painful and surprising situation for the whole team, we immediately presented ourselves to the medical board and await justice for investigation. Nobody can believe what was happening, he joined as a volunteer and later came with a doctor card, stamp and everything, and it must be He provided us with fabricated documents. “
Almada confirmed that Martin carried out coordination functions in the Tactical Operations Center. “When the COE Córdoba team withdrew from Rio Quarto, he stayed in the city, I don’t know what tasks he did for the municipality, but some inconsistencies and false documents were discovered,” Almada told La Voz.
The truth is, the situation is very painful. It is sad in the midst of this situation that it upsets us, as we all make an effort and it is difficult for us to build trust. This unexpected situation is a huge pain for everyone. Almada added: “I want to apologize on behalf of those who participate in this issue. One never expects such a thing.”
In Rio Quarto, it was the opposition advisor, Carlos Ordonez, who raised the alarm about the trout doctor. He expected his group to file a request for information because the fake doctor was to attend the S24 Health Center operating in the old hospital. Although it was the municipality that discovered the wrong registration, they are distributing a prescription that Martin could have made, so it is not excluded that the patients attended without an empowerment document.
Attempts to contact the phone number that Ignacio Martin gave to this newspaper a few months ago were unsuccessful, so it was not possible to record his story or the version of his defenders.
