Ostrava – A passenger train derailed shortly before midnight in Český Těšín in Karvinsk. Nobody was injured. Damage exceeded one million crowns. Martin Drápal, spokesman for the Railway Inspection, told journalists today. Traffic on the track was not restricted due to the accident.

The accident happened on Tuesday at 23:50 on the route Frýdek-Místek – Český Těšín. The train driver missed the stop sign, hit the barrier and derailed. “The railway inspectorate has started its own investigation into this extraordinary event, including the preparation of the final report,” said Drápal. He added that the damage to the train was approximately 750,000 crowns, and further damage was caused to the infrastructure and the technological building.
