Prague – The riskiest intersection in the Czech Republic is in Prague on I.P. Pavlova Square. In the last two years, there have been 103 traffic accidents on it, in which 13 people were injured and more than 15 million crowns in damage was caused. Other risky intersections are, for example, in Ústí nad Labem or Hradec Králové. ČTK reported about it today at the Portal of Accidents.

The most common cause of accidents at busy city intersections is failure to give way, failure to maintain a safe distance or running a red light. The intersection on I. P. Pavlova, where the main road with very heavy traffic intersects with the perpendicular Ječná street and tram traffic, is no exception.
“Drivers should not only be extremely careful here. If they were to fully devote themselves to driving, keeping a safe distance, etc., it would help to reduce the number of accidents that occur here,” said Jan Chalas from the company DataFriends, which is the operator of the Accident Portal.
The intersection of Přístavní and Předmostí streets near the bridge Dr. is also a risky place. E. Beneš in Ústí nad Labem. The very busy four-lane road No. 62, which follows the flow of the Elbe, narrows here into road No. 30, connected to it by Předmostí street, from which cars turn onto it when exiting the railway underpass. In addition, everything complicates the connection of roadways to a nearby bridge. In two years, 35 accidents occurred here, ten people were injured and the damage exceeded four million crowns. The most common cause was failure to maintain a safe distance behind the vehicle.
In Hradec Králové, drivers most often crash on the city ring road at the intersection of Pilnáčkova and Akademika Bedrny streets. In the last two years, there have been 19 accidents in which ten people were injured and the damage was over three million crowns. “And the cause? It is probably the most fatal for intersections – running a red light,” said the Accident Portal.
