Washington – American actor Treat Williams, who became famous for his role as George Berger in the film Miloš Forman's Hair, died in a motorcycle accident on Monday. This was reported by NBC News with reference to the Williams family. The actor, who got his start in Broadway musicals, was 71.

Williams was riding a motorcycle and was passed over by the driver of a turning car, according to a police report. The accident happened at 16:53 local time (22:53 CEST) near the town of Dorset in the state of Vermont in the east of the USA. He was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police.
