Hind Al Soulia – Riyadh – KABUL — At least 10 security force members were killed and another was wounded in two separate attacks in Afghanistan’s south western Farah province and northern Baghlan province, said officials on Monday.
Farah’s provincial governor, Taj Mohammad Jahid in a statement to the media said that the Taliban attacked a security outpost in Bala Bolok district of Farah province killing at least six security force members.
He said that the Taliban blew up the security outpost capturing it. Taliban also attacked another security outpost in Farah city but the security forces pushed back the attack, said Jahid.
Moreover, at least four security force members were killed, including a commander, in a Taliban attack in Nahrin district of northern Baghlan province, said district governor, Mohammad Azizi.
“The Taliban took the equipment of the security forces after the attack,” he added. The Taliban rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack came days after at least 27 people were killed and around 60 others received injuries when a powerful car bomb detonated in Pul-e Alam district of Afghanistan’s Logar province near the house of the former head of the provincial council.
Also, the Taliban forces launched a rocket attack on Kandahar airfield on Saturday as the US is set to begin withdrawing from Afghanistan, a US military spokesperson told CBS News. Fighter jets launched from the USS Eisenhower retaliated against a suspected Taliban position. — Agencies
