Prague – An accident involving a van and a car in the morning near Příbram closed the D4 highway in the direction of Strakonice for about three hours. One person was slightly injured in the accident, the paramedics took him to the hospital after treatment. The police are investigating the cause and circumstances of the accident, the damage was estimated at 300,000 crowns, police spokeswoman Vlasta Suchánková and Monika Nováková of the regional rescue service told ČTK.

According to Suchánková, the incident happened before 4:30 a.m. at the 45th kilometer in the direction of Strakonice. “It was a head-on collision between a van and a car,” the spokeswoman said. According to her, the 56-year-old van driver, who was driving from Strakonice, drove into the opposite direction for unknown reasons, where he collided head-on with a car.

Central Bohemian fire department spokesman Jan Sýkora said that one car was left on its side and inside after the accident he was the person who communicated with the firefighters. The crashed car did not catch fire, but partially obstructed traffic.

According to Nováková, the accident resulted in one injury. “We treated one slightly injured man, he had a bruised leg and was conscious. After treatment, we transferred him to the Příbram hospital,” the spokeswoman added. According to Suchánková, breath tests for alcohol were negative for both drivers.
