Brno – Brno entrepreneur Adam Rumler and a colleague worked for five years on the development of a smart cradle for newborns. This year, at the turn of January and February, they came to the market with a cradle that can be connected to a smartphone and can be controlled using an application to rock, play pre-installed melodies or so-called white noise. It also works as a babysitter and alerts parents when the child wakes up or starts crying, and thanks to two cameras, parents can also have a streaming image on their phone, Rumler told ČTK at the ProDítě fair in Brno. Another function is the red light, which can also be controlled remotely and the intensity can also be adjusted. A breath monitor is also built in.

The cradle has a design based on the shape of an eggshell and is covered with a textile material that is developed especially for children. “It's washable, it's washable, and it's anti-allergenic,” Rumler said. He used to design designer hookahs, but sold the company in 2017. “I had a free head and I was watching the movie Avengers. Hulk was leaning on a cradle in the first part and I was wondering if there were any nice cradles on the market. And I found out that I didn't like any. The shape came to me immediately and gradually we they tried to fulfill the vision,” he said.
The cradle is on the market under the Loonoy brand and is designed for children up to one year. “When I drew it, I started researching who would make it. But textile manufacturers or upholsterers in Brno and the surrounding area either told me that they wouldn't make it because they didn't have time, or they had time sometimes in months or even a year. Until I tried a company I worked with on another project. Another person helped me with the mechanics. I understand part of everything, but I can't understand everything in depth,” Rumler said. Now the first cradles have already been made in Hrušovany near Brno. The baby should sleep well and feel good in the cradle, and the parent can be calmer thanks to the functions.
The cradle communicates with the application on the mobile phone via the Wi-Fi network and the firmware is updated regularly. The version with the maximum technological functions costs 29,000 crowns, the cradle with part of the technology is 5,000 cheaper. You can also buy a cradle without technology for 14,900 crowns. “We also offer a cradle to rent for three or six months, the price starts at 1,500 crowns per month. There is a part of people who do not need to own certain things, and the demand for buying and renting is half and half,” said Rumler.
Since the cradle has only been on the market for a few weeks, Rumler is working with a colleague on promotion and cooperation with merchants. In addition to its own e-shop, the cradle should soon appear in stores, especially with children's goods.
