Anorexia is considered as a serious mental illness. A new study has shown that this can also be physiological and disease – changes in the DNA of some people changing the way of processing fats and sugars, which rapidly lost weight.
Anorexia is an eating disorder that causes people an incredible amount of weight, become painfully thin. It can even lead to death. Typically, patients eat very little and exercise excessively. People with anorexia often have a distorted view of yourself and can feel thick, even if they have dangerously low weight. In the long term, anorexia can damage the muscles, bones, heart, fertility and can lead to death.
In the new analysis, the researchers tested 16 992 person with anorexia and 55 525 people without the disease from 17 countries. It turned out that many is not just a disease of the mind but also the body – such patients are frequently encountered genetic mutations that greatly increase metabolism, which people just can’t gain weight. Moreover, they quickly lose. These mutations are directly linked to the mechanism to metabolize sugar and fats.
