Madrid – In the 26th round of the Spanish league, the players of Atlético Madrid beat relegation-threatened Valencia 3-0 and secured third place in the table. After their third win in a row, they are five points behind second-placed Real, who will face leaders Barcelona on Sunday. Valencia are only a point above the relegation zone and could drop into it on Sunday.
Atlético have not lost sixteen matches against Valencia since October 2014, Griezmann, Carrasco and Lemar took care of extending the streak.
Almería caught up with Valencia on points, having won a 1:1 draw in the match with Cádiz with a penalty goal in the sixth minute of regulation.
