Prague – Attendance at domestic ski areas was high again at the weekend, but on Saturday it was slightly better than today, when the weather worsened. It got cold and snowed or drizzled. The ski areas still have enough snow, and some operators hope to be able to ski even during the Easter holidays, which this year fall on the second weekend in April. However, the conditions for cross-country skiers are deteriorating, modified routes are usually only in higher locations. It emerged from the statements of the operators of the centers to ČTK.

In the north of Bohemia, the centers contacted would like to have slopes in operation at least until the end of March, for example the director of the ski area in Rokytnica nad Jizerou Vít Pražák is also thinking about Easter skiing. “We are still making snow and we believe that people will still want to ski. We want to maintain the operation until the end of March, maybe even on Easter,” he told ČTK. On Saturday, 2,500 people arrived at the site, today a thousand fewer. Lower interest in skiing compared to Saturday was also noted today in the ski resort Telnice near Ústí nad Labem. Similar to the week before, over 13,000 skiers and hikers came to the Černá hora – Pec ski resort. Spring vacation continues to affect attendance.
Smaller areas are also open in the Krkonoše and Jizera Mountains, as well as in the Ore Mountains, and many cross-country trails are groomed there. The resorts in Orlické hory also offer good conditions for skiing. “The weather is ideally winter, minus three degrees, the skiing conditions are great, we have up to a meter of natural and technical snow,” said Petr Kánský, head of the Říčka center. According to him, around 2,000 skiers skied in the resort on Saturday, today there were fewer.
Šumava ski areas also remain in operation. It has been warmer in the region in recent days, but the operators are keeping enough snow on the slopes. However, the conditions are not the same everywhere, for example the slope in Nové Huty had to be closed. In addition, nearby Zadov still has enough snow on the slopes, Petr Vondraš said for the ski resort. Areas around Železná Ruda also have good conditions. It's worse with snow for cross-country skiing. The snow has melted on the open plains, the routes between Modrava, Černá hora and Prameny Vltava, or between Zadov and Pláně, are still passable.
The weather affected the weekend attendance at ski centers in Moravia and Silesia as well, and on Saturday there was skiing on the slopes more people than today. For example, an estimated 1,200 people skied in Jeseníky on Červenohorské sedlo on Saturday, today about a third less. “Yesterday (Saturday) thanks to the weather, attendance was extreme. It was beautiful until the afternoon,” said center manager Martin Dubský. For example, Branná in Šumperska or Karolinka in Vsetínska had lower attendance compared to Saturday, where 600 people skied on Saturday and around 400 today. they have had enough and that the season is slowly but surely coming to an end. However, on this date we are satisfied with the attendance,” said Jan Dudek, the operator of the area in Karolinka.
