Berlin – Augsburg's footballers won 1-0 in the preliminaries of the Bundesliga over Hoffenheim, and in a duel between teams just above the relegation zone, they leapfrogged their table neighbor to a four-point difference. The game was decided in the 88th minute by Finnish midfielder Fredrik Jensen, who came on the field twelve minutes before the decisive moment. Shortly after his arrival, the Czech Hoffenheim defender Pavel Kadeřábek left the field. Two goals for the home team have not yet been recognized by the video referee.
Hoffenheim remained in 14th place before the weekend program with a two-point lead on the play-off 16th position, only three points separate it from relegation. Kadeřábk's team has been waiting for a win since mid-October for eleven rounds and lost the second game after the arrival of American coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. Hoffenheim came out empty-handed for the fourth time in a row, having only won a point in the spring and also falling out of the cup.
