It is not a retrospective, but rather a “snippet” from the work, one point or landmark on the life line, Žák told journalists today.

The collections of both designers float in the museum on black circular platforms suspended from a column under a skylight. Figuratively speaking, it is design heaven, stated the director of the Moravian Gallery, Jan Press.

In the past, Vrtiška and Žák designed sports stadiums, apartment and office interiors, but also furniture, toys, watches and lighting. At a time when designers often specialize and when design and architecture tend to be separated, Vrtiška and Žák are exceptional in their universality, pointed out curator Adam Štěch. They can solve projects of many different scales and tasks at the same level, he added.

Both authors simultaneously turned their exhibition into an architectural intervention, a column set in the space across the floors of the museum. The platforms are black, as are most of the products on display. The designers wanted the shape and silhouette to stand out and not distract attention from bold colors.

The exhibition was named Za dobrý design. It expresses not only the pursuit of a quality product, but also the coherence and development of the field. “We are one team. Not just the two of us, but the entire design scene,” stated Vrtiška.

The visual language of the creative duo Vrtiška & According to experts, the pupil is aesthetic, at the same time inconspicuous, it naturally fits into the environment, it is based on the person, his movements and needs. “The most fundamental idea of design is that the product has the right to life. When you think about it in the spirit of sustainability, it's about the fact that things can be passed down from generation to generation. The important thing is to make quality design. Quality in the sense that it will fulfill you for the rest of your life,” Žák described.
