During an interview with “Los Angeles Times” Elyfer Torres He confessed that he had a firsthand experience of racism in the acting world. She said that many times she was rejected because of her appearance and we have to show that these problems are still prevalent in society.
“A lot of times I’ve been told I can’t be the protagonist of something because my body is not up to the standard of beauty,” he says. Be straight and honest, I’m not a member like that, ”he said in an interview.
Elyfer Torres confessed that one of his greatest wishes was that the Spanish production was more diverse and included in the project. Sadly, though, racism persists and is a problem we have to deal with.
“We think this problem has been forgotten and has been solved for a long time now. The issue of color and race is no longer relevant to where we go and stay here,” he continues.
Torres believes artists must speak openly about racism and discrimination in order to see these issues and take action.
“I think as artists we have a platform where we can talk about these issues and make them visible so people can be aware and able to change. It’s so crazy we still have to go through it and we can’t tell more stories, ”he adds.
