Malta has started giving booster vaccinations against Covid-19.
Valletta – Malta has started giving booster vaccinations against Covid-19. The first so-called booster vaccinations were given to seniors in care facilities on Monday morning, as Health Minister Chris Fearne wrote on Twitter. In some old people’s homes, more corona cases had surfaced again. From next week, people with a weakened immune system will also receive a third corona vaccination. People are immunized with the mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer / Biontech.
The start of the refreshments was brought forward by one week from the actually planned date due to the Corona cases in the nursing homes. According to Fearne, the government is reviewing the clinical data to see if all home residents need another vaccination. Malta has fully immunized more than 90 percent of its vaccinated population. People aged twelve and over can get the vaccine. (dpa)
