Östersund (Sweden) – In the endurance race of the World Cup in Östersund, biathlete Markéta Davidová did not follow up on her triumph from last season and took thirteenth place, just like Michal Krčmář, who is number one among men, is waiting. Two errors in the final shooting event deprived the 2021 world champion of the podium. The innkeeper also missed twice.

The race belonged to the Italian women, who were flawless on the shooting range. Dorothea Wierer won by 25.5 seconds ahead of Lisa Vittozzi, who secured a small crystal globe for the discipline evaluation. The first triumph of the season was celebrated by the German Benedikt Doll, who was the only one who did not add a penalty minute. Third place was enough for a small globe for Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen, who finished as the best Norwegian in the absence of stellar compatriots.
Davidová started on the track with starting number one and shot cleanly in the first three events, which kept her in the lead even after passing other favorites. But she missed the second and fifth shots on the final item. The freezing weather in Sweden was to blame. p>It was not enough for the best even on the fifteen kilometer track. “I have to say that today did not go as well as I would have imagined,” lamented the Czech representative. She lost more than three minutes to the winning Wierer. She was about a minute and a half away from the bronze medalist Denise Herrmannová-Wicková of Germany.
The second best Czech in the race was Lucie Charvátová, who took 26th place with two penalty minutes. This is her best ranking in the current SP season, where she had only one point so far.
The forty-first Tereza Voborníková, who recorded three penalty minutes, was about a second away from the top forty. Jessica Jislová was unable to run after health problems and was fifty-first with two errors. Tereza Vinklárková failed, who did not hit a single target during the second layup and had a total of nine penalty minutes. She was the penultimate of the 93 biathletes who finished the race.
Krčmář wanted to be in the elite six, but paid for two shots off the target. “The race was good. It took me a little while to get going on the course. The closer I got to the finish the better it was. I tried to control it on the range but two shots jumped out. That prevented a top result ,” he assessed. With twentieth place, Jakub Štvrtecký whetted his appetite for the SP in Nové Město in Moravia.
The star brothers Böe and Sturla Holm Laegreid did not start in Sweden after contracting the coronavirus. Johannes Thingnes Bö was already certain of overall triumph in the World Cup on Wednesday.
