The Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, rejected the non-permanent expenses of the Ministry of the Interior, after the opposition indicated that the proposed resources are insufficient.

The Chamber of Deputies rejected, by 69 votes against and 65 in favor, the non-permanent allocation of the Ministry of the Interior in the 2023 budget, including the resources allocated to migration and foreigners and the program to combat organized crime.

The UDI deputy, Juan Manuel Fuenzalida, was one of the parliamentarians who raised the idea with the most concrete effect: rejecting the variable item from the Ministry of the Interior, accusing that the proposed resources are insufficient.

“As Chile Vamos we believe that what was done in the budget for that item was insufficient, migration budgets were lowered, in terms of Firefighters no new resources were added, in Carabineros except for those resources announced by Undersecretary Monsalvo that they are $80 billion, we believe that it is not enough”, indicated Fuenzalida.

From the DC, there were also votes to reject this game, the head of the Falange bench, Eric Aedo, accusing that it was insufficient for the Carabineros and the Investigative Police.

“We wanted to deliver a direct message to the Government and we hope that it will accept it, and it is related to the insufficiency in the increase in resources to Carabineros, PDI, this budget that was presented to us does not cover very specific things that were expressed by the general director of the Carabineros”, he said.

“The helmets that the Carabineros use, the bulletproof vests that the Carabineros use, are not capable of stopping the firepower of the automatic weapons that are used in the Southern macrozone, these things are not covered by this budget,” added Aedo.

Marcel and annoyance for indications to the budget

It was a difficult day for the Minister of Finance, < strong>Mario Marcel. They managed to approve 12 of the 13 games but a series of opposition indications aroused support and sources in Chile Vamos assure that the Secretary of State came to criticize them for promoting proposals for permanent spending.

Marcel criticized the opposition, recalling that they have been a sector that has called itself a defender of fiscal discipline and the constitution, and that it should not matter if in the past the ruling party did the same.

This Wednesday the voting will continue until the other 19 parties are fully dispatched, and the critical nodes will be the ministries of Justice, Education and Health.
