Car incentives, bonuses for new and used: the details

After weeks of appeals and difficult months for the market, car incentives have finally obtained the expected refinancing with the Budget Committee of the House which approved the allocation of 350 million euros within the Sostegni bis decree. There has not yet been the final ok that will arrive in the next few days but the automotive sector can breathe again, with bonuses for new and used Euro 6 cars, even if there have been some changes for the latter.

Car incentives, 300 million for refinancing

Let’s start right from second hand car: the purchase of used cars can benefit from the incentives until 31 December 2021 (subject to exhaustion of sources) in the event of scrapping of a car registered before January 2011 or in any case that is at least 10 years old at the time of purchase and that has been registered in the name of natural persons for at least 12 months. In detail, for cars in the 0-60 g / km range, the contribution will be 2,000 euros, for cars falling within the 61-90 g / km range, the bonus will be 1,000 euros and 750 euros for 91-160 cars. The amounts initially allocated in the initial draft have been halved. Used cars that will be purchased cannot have a price “resulting from the average market prices” higher than 25 thousand euros.

As for instead buying new cars with the relief from incentives, the new text provides for the following concessions (without scrapping): for the 0-20 g / km range the bonus will be 4,000 euros (Ecobonus Stato) to which are added another 1,000 euros non-government bonuses and 1,000 euros ( + VAT) of the dealer; for the 21-60 g / km range, on the other hand, 1,500 euros of State Eco-bonus will be available plus 1,000 euros extra-bonus and another 1,000 euros (+ VAT) from the retailer. In case of scrapping instead, for the 0-20 g / km range, 6,000 euros of State Eco-bonuses are envisaged, as well as 2,000 euros of extra bonuses and an additional 2,000 euros (+ VAT) from dealers; for the 21-60 g / km range (always with scrapping), 2,500 euros for Ecobonus, 2,000 euros extra bonuses and 2,000 euros (+ VAT) for retailers. Finally, for the purchase of new cars with emissions in the 61-135 g / km range, 1,500 euros plus 2,000 euros (+ VAT) for dealers are envisaged. The provision, if approved by the Chamber and Senate, will have to wait for the publication in the Official Gazette of the law converting the Sostegni bis decree, which must be carried out by 25 July.
