Fašank, Masopust or Končiny are different names for the period before the fast that lasts until Easter. The parade of masquerades associated with exuberant merriment survives as an old tradition in many places in Bohemia and Moravia. In Mikulov, the masquerades gathered in the square, accompanied by brass and dulcimer music, they walked through the city center, tea was poured, adults had “something sharper”, sweet donuts were handed out. Traditional masks such as a waterman, a chimney sweep and a card holder were on display. In addition to the carnival tour, participants could look forward to slaughterhouse specialties, mulled wine, Mardi Gras lighting with an accordionist or plum wine tasting.
For example, it was also celebrated in Pavlov and Dolní Dunajovice in the Břeclav region, and they also have a Mardi Gras program in Židlochovice in the Brno region. A Moravian slaughterhouse is prepared at the information center, there will be an opportunity to listen to music in the barn of the Community Center, and a fairy tale called “What Happened at the Carnival” is also planned for children.
The so-called Bronx of Brno, a socially excluded location near the city center, can look forward to traditional and non-traditional masks, music, theater and streets full of merriment this afternoon. A carnival parade will also pass through the streets. “It's not just a Mardi Gras parade, the theme is also consumerism, oversaturation, excess of well-being,” said the main organizer of the event, Lucie Grulichová. The procession will set off from Káznice through Bratislavská, Körnerova, Cejl, Radlas, Plynárenská streets and will end with a ceremonial burial of the bass in the park near Albert on Svitavské nábřeží, where the band Urband will play.
The Radost Theater and the disciplinary ensembles Dramatická Jelita and Káznice crew take part in the parade. The original contribution of the Brno Mardi Gras celebrations is the vegan “killer”. In cooperation with Café in the Ghetto, meat-free products will be prepared with an accompanying program. “We stick to the wording of abandoning meat literally. However, if you have a desire to have a sausage or traditional smoked meat in the parade, bring your own and don't be afraid to offer it to other participants in the parade,” Grulichová encouraged.
The Fašank Brno celebration is coming up on Tuesday next week, the official opening is planned at 5:00 p.m. in the Palace of the Nobles. People can look forward to demonstrations of carnival customs, for example, in the Alfa Passage in front of the HaDivadl or in the Dietrichstein Palace. The dulcimer discussion open to the general public will then continue in the Palace of the Nobles.

The traditional Žižkov carnival started today on Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Prague, with a farmer's market, mask making and a competition for children. Dozens of people headed to the square already in the morning. Visitors can listen to a musical performance or make a mask in the Atrium in Čajkovského street, from where the carnival parade will leave at approximately 4:30 p.m. Masopust is also taking place in Letná and Malá Strana in the metropolis today.

They enter the answers to them in a crossword, which they print out and pick up at the Prague 3 info center. If they fill in the secret correctly, they can pick up a donut at the Prague 3 info stand.
The info center has a workshop for children, where they can make a mask . Shortly after the opening, the center was filled with children and their parents.
