RegioFox trains will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines, which can run on HVO biofuel in addition to conventional diesel. The suites have barrier-free access, heating, air conditioning, wi-fi, a vacuum toilet with a changing table or a modern audiovisual information system with LCD monitors. They also fit eight bicycles, three strollers and two wheelchairs. “They are also equipped with a passenger counting system, which will give us and those ordering the transport a better overview of the load on individual routes,” said Jiří Ješeta, ČD's deputy director general for passenger transport.

ČD is now testing the train on a test circuit in Velimi. “Tests are in full swing and approval by the Railway Authority will follow,” the carrier said. After Prague and central and southern Bohemia, other regiofoxes should head to the Pardubický, Hradec Králové, Pilsen regions and the Vysočina region. On the tracks, they will replace older vehicles of series 814, 842, 843, possibly sets with locomotive 754 and Bdt cars.

“The fox is a cunning and smart animal and I am glad that RegioFox will offer passengers many smart solutions and maximum comfort The new name was chosen by our passengers in a poll on social networks,” said ČD CEO Michal Krapinec. ČD already transports passengers on regional lines in the Czech Republic in, for example, RegioPanter, RegioShark, RegioSpider or CityElefant sets.
