Tepito is one of the most representative places in the City of Mexico and it is that, located in the Morelos neighborhood, the Barrio Bravo It is famous for being one of the most dangerous in the city due to its high crime rate. But beyond that, this site is characterized by the fraternal community that its inhabitants have created among themselves and the traditional street market that extends throughout the Central Axis to Garibaldi, the Guerrero and Lagunilla.
Thus, on this occasion, a famous tiktoker was hit on social media after visiting Tepito and “exoticizing” the safety of the neighborhoods and the tianguis that are in this area of the country’s capital.
Everything happened on TikTok, when Fernando Martínez Robles, better known as Chico Gucci (@fermtzro) -who is characterized by showing his luxurious shoes in his content – showed his visit to this area.
In the first instance he went to the tennis market and was surprised by the quality and price of the pieces, although some were not original.
“You already know that I find the best qualities in Tepito and they are showing me all the sneakers that have a certificate of authenticity (…) so here is an option. You already know that piracy is not bad if you buy them because you like them and not to show off”, he mentioned in the first instance.

Similarly, at another point in his journey, the influencer indicated that he would enter one of the neighborhoods of the Barrio bravo to meet them.
“We are going to enter a neighborhood here in Tepito and here I realized that the houses have double security: The fence and the steel door. There are even some that grab a little more space to store their belongings. They have everything very secure with padlocks and there are a lot of motorcycles as you can see, because this is the most common means of transportation here in Tepito”, commented the young man.
Furthermore, El Chico Gucci remarked that he liked going to this area of the Morelos neighborhood and pointed out that he found great cultural expressions on the site.
“It is very interesting because I have seen more good things here in Tepito than bad, like urban artists, there is a lot of boxing and also wrestling. I really liked Tepito a lot, I would 100% come back and yes, it’s safer than you think”, he commented.

However, the reactions on the part of Internet users were immediate and several of them attacked the young man, as they assured that he “felt safe” because private security elements were surely accompanying him.
“How are they going to rob you of your carnal bodyguard”. “Hahaha sure and he goes safely behind him, why doesn’t he go alone??”. “Safer than they think?? because they take care of you so you won’t be afraid”. “Nothing else because you are accompanied if not who knows how he will go”. “It shows that you have not tread well Tepito, or Morelos, or Tenochtitlán haha.”“El morro taking a village bath”, were some of the mentions that appeared on TikTok.
It should be remembered that after the War of Independence,  ;Tepito became a forgotten area due to the scarcity of water, in turn began to be populated by artisans and farmers but also by criminals fugitives from justice, sex workers and homeless people who found a refuge between its streets.

In 1874, the opening of wells to supply water to the inhabitants of the area was allowed, this allowed the Barrio Bravo to become more populated ten years later and its inhabitants began to build houses individuals that would later become neighborhoods that are still standing to date. This is how little by little the streets of the Morelos neighborhood began to be structured as they are known today.
The history of Tepito is not limited only to its historical origin, but rather < b>it is also the memory of a sector of society that for years has been ignored by the authorities and that found in the streets of the colonia Morelos a way to make a living selling any type of product in the famous tianguis.
Among its inhabitants it is common to hear that “Tepito exists because it resists”< /b>, a motto that has remained and has gained credibility since all locals have sought a way to get ahead even when the city itself turned its back on them.
