Citizenship income, Renzi announces abrogative referendum. “Enough young people who live on subsidies”

Renzi: “I will launch a referendum to abolish citizenship income”

Matteo Renzi has announced that he will launch a referendum to “abolish the citizenship income” in 2022, after the election of the President of the Republic. “We will start with a collection of signatures for the abrogative referendum”, he declared during the national conference of young entrepreneurs of Confindustria which was held today, Friday 9 July, in Rome. “Whoever perishes in a referendum, hurts in a referendum. I do not want Italy to continue to be an instrument with which young people are educated to live on subsidies and not on sweat. We want the Italians to say whether the Citizenship Income is detrimental and must be maintained or not ”, he explained.

The comments of the Grillini deputies immediately arrived, including Marina Pallini, who declared in Adnkronos: “Renzi will try again with the referendum. Evidently he has not yet learned the sound lesson he was given a few years ago. He is a repeat offender who does not surrender to the evidence of the facts and who fails to be in tune with the concrete needs of the country. Last year, citizenship income represented a real breath of fresh air for Italians struggling with the first, violent wave of Covid-19 “.

“Now the second phase is going to full capacity – continued the exponent of the M5S – that of the use of earners in projects useful to the community prepared by the municipal administrations. It is a measure of support and, at the same time, of active labor policy that absolutely must not be dismantled, no matter what Confindustria says, to which Renzi is perhaps used to wink. Rather, we are still waiting for him to carry out his public promise to abandon politics, ”he concluded.
