To the 2021 IAA Munich Motor Show an interesting debut electric car with interchangeable batteries. It is a prototype developed by the Adaptive City Mobility (ACM), a German company from Munich founded in 2013, with an experienced management BMW.

Outside it looks like one Panda but its greatest feature is the system of “Battery swap”, with dead batteries that you can replace in 3 minutes.

The City One is designed as a small Japanese “tall boy” type car Keicar: small external dimensions, with a body tall and square to maximize interior space. It is long 3.6 m high 1.67 m, long 1.65 m, Weighs 950 kg and reaches a maximum speed of 110 km / h.

Adaptive City Mobility (ACM) designed the car to be something of a tool multipurpose transport, mainly urban, able to be used as Taxi, van for deliveries and how generic car.

ACM City One is versatile and can carry up to 5 passengers

In its realization, a euro pallets to be inserted in the rear compartment from 1,450 liters. The passenger compartment was created around this large trunk which can accommodate up to a few steps to 5 passengers.

Electric car charging and autonomy with battery exchange

The City One electric car engine is powered by a compact main battery providing 240 km of range, which is recharged in eight hours of charging one universal schuko socket and five hours from the public columns.

ACM is focusing on normal home wall socket charging, as it has correctly determined that regular wall outlets are still very much more common than quick chargers specialized for electric vehicles.

There are slots in the trunk and on the roof for additional batteries

In addition to the main accumulator at the bottom of the trunk there are 4 slots to add as many batteries of 2.5 kWh each, for a total weight of 10.5 kg. These small accumulators are large and suitcase-like and can be substituted in 3 minutes.

Together with the charge of the main battery the electric car can count on a total autonomy of 360 km. On the roof as an option they can be requested 4 more slots for another 4 additional batteries, with the autonomy that in this case can reach 480 km. The declared consumptions are lower than 10 kWh per 100 kilometers.

The replacement of flat batteries takes place in 3 minutes

The points for the battery replacement they can be installed in any service station. Charging in this way would take place at the same time as refueling with petrol or diesel.

Price electric car with interchangeable batteries

The City One electric car with interchangeable batteries is expected to go into production in 2023. I prices should be between 10,000 and 15,000 euros. ACM has made it known that it has already received over 200,000 orders.
