Electoral Justice Employee Prepares Electronic Ballot Box for 2018 Election

BRASÍLIA (Reuters) – The result of an audit carried out by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) allows us to conclude that the country’s current electronic voting system is fully auditable, court minister Bruno Dantas said on Wednesday when presenting his vote in judgment of the court, which ended up suspended by a request for a view.

The request for a view was made by Minister Jorge Oliveira, appointed to the TCU by President Jair Bolsonaro, who is an outspoken critic of the current voting system and advocates a change that aggregates the printed vote. The change proposal, however, was rejected the day before in a vote in the Chamber of Deputies.
