Prague – Most Czechs trust the Czech National Bank (ČNB), the Constitutional Court (ÚS) and the public defender of rights. Almost two-thirds have confidence in the CNB, more than three-fifths of people trust the Constitutional Court and the Ombudsman. This follows from a current survey by the CVVM agency, the results of which are available to ČTK. In addition, since the last survey in 2020, or 2019 in the case of the CNB, trust in all mentioned institutions has increased.

Of the three assessed institutions, people declared the most confidence in the CNB. 65 percent of people believe her, 29 percent of the respondents have the opposite opinion, the rest do not know. 62 percent of Czechs showed sympathy for the Constitutional Court, a fifth of people do not trust it, the rest again said they did not know. The ombudsman, who enjoys the trust of 62 percent of people, has achieved similar results to the Ús, while a quarter of those surveyed do not trust him.

“Compared to the last comparable surveys, trust in all three monitored institutions increased by nine percentage points in the case of the ombudsman, by five percentage points in the case of the Constitutional Court and by four percentage points in the case of the CNB. At the same time, there was a slight decrease in the share of distrust in the case of the ombudsman, by four percentage points,” said the authors of the survey.

At the same time, they found , that trust in institutions increases along with an improving assessment of the economic situation, with increasing satisfaction with life and with increasing satisfaction with the political situation. Confidence in the Constitutional Court and the CNB is stronger, especially among educated people and those respondents who declare a higher standard of living. On the contrary, it decreases among older respondents. More women than men trust the Ombudsman.

The survey was carried out between November 2022 and January 2023.
