Farewell to the deceased head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev will take place on September 10 in Moscow, the minister will be buried in St. Petersburg. This was announced on Thursday, September 9, by TASS, citing a source.
The tragic death of Yevgeny Zinichev became known on September 8. The minister died when he tried to save the famous film director Alexander Melnik. The director also died in the accident.
According to the REN TV channel, the helicopter delivered the bodies of Zinichev and Melnik to the hospital after the completion of the exercise. Both of them by this time were already dead.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Serbian President Alexander Vucic, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed their condolences in connection with the death of the Emergencies Ministry chief.
Zinichev was born on August 18, 1966 in Leningrad. He graduated from two faculties (economics, finance and credit) of the St. Petersburg Institute of Business and Law, and in 2013 he underwent professional retraining at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
He headed the Russian Emergencies Ministry since 2018. Zinichev was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, IV degree with the image of swords, the medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, II degree, and the Suvorov medal.
