Oberhof (Germany) – Markéta Davidová will start the endurance race at the Biathlon World Championships today as the defending champion of last year. The Czech No. 1 had problems with her vocal cords in Oberhof, but according to assistant coach Jiří Holubec, she should be fine and her participation is not at risk. The race will start at 2:30 p.m., the 26-year-old competitor from Janov nad Nisou will take to the track with starting number 2. Tereza Voborníková, Lucie Charvátová, Eliška Václavíková and Tereza Vinklárková will also appear with her.

< p>Davidová entered the championship in Oberhof with the fifth place in the mixed relay. She was sixth in the sprint with two flawless shooting entries, in Sunday's pursuit she fell to sixteenth place after five penalty rounds.

Two years ago in Pokljuka, she shot the endurance race as the only one of two competitors without a mistake and won ahead of Sweden's Hanna Öberg , Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold was third. Last year, Davidová won a small crystal globe in this discipline. In the current season, she finished seventh in the 15 km race in Kontiolahti and eighteenth in Ruhpolding. The leading woman in the discipline in the World Cup is the Italian Lisa Vittozzi.
