The import of diesel fuel from the USA is the result of the state enterprise's efforts to diversify sources of diesel fuel, which should contribute to strengthening the independence of the Czech Republic from Russian raw materials.
“For the Czech Republic, it is crucial to ensure a sufficient amount of high-quality fuel so that we do not have to face a similar situation again as last spring, when the prices of diesel in particular rose disproportionately. Thanks to the new contracts, we will be prepared for the fluctuations that Putin's war in Ukraine may bring with it, ” said Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS).
The representatives of Čepra and a commodity trader from Poland negotiated the contract for Louisiana diesel for several months. “Our effort is to get as many fuel suppliers for the Czech market as possible. We transport fuel mainly from Germany, Austria and Poland, and now we have also managed to get deliveries from the USA,” said Čepra CEO Jan Duspeva.
American quality according to him, diesel meets the Czech standard. “Compared to Europe, this is one of the better quality products. Czech drivers don't need to worry, they won't know the difference,” Duspeva added.
Čepro mainly provides transportation, storage and sale of petroleum products. It operates a network of 1,165 kilometers of product pipelines, and has 650 storage tanks with a capacity of 1.76 million cubic meters. At the same time, it operates a network of its own gas stations under the trade name EuroOil.
