Disney+ is expected to rise in the power of a very serious over the next few months if we are to believe these ads.
Disney+ has already surpassed 50 million subscribers around the world. If the platform is still far away from Netflix, it is at least affirmed as a serious competitor in the market of streaming. But, the question of content will be central to the long-term. Disney+ can’t rely on to host the series or the movies that are released in cinemas. Good news, the transition started under the pressure of the epidemic, coronaviruses can be expected to accelerate.
Disney+ gives a chance to the streaming
The process has already been initiated in recent weeks with the movie Artemis Fowl is finally an exclusive for Disney+. But this choice was also a reflection of the fear of commercial failure. If the latest Marvel movies are not available on streaming, it is also a question of immediate profitability.
But between the blockbusters and the commercial failures, there is a whole catalogue of film which could well find its place on Disney+. This is what was announced Bob Chapek, the CEO of Disney at a poi nt financial. If he says to continue to believe in cinemas, Disney is not going to miss this digital transition, however.
“We believe strongly in the value of the cinema. But we also believe that – either by reason of the change and of the evolution of modes of consumption, either because of certain situations like the COVID – we may need to make some changes on this overall strategy. We will evaluate each of our films on a case-by-case basis, as we do in this context of coronavirus.
It is now waiting to have some names of movies to see things more clearly. Mulan, Black Widow and Soul were not expected to escape to the cinemas.
