“One is a seriously ill patient. Severe concomitant injury, leg fracture. Now there is an operation to save his leg. He also has a bruised chest. Shock of the second or third degree, ”the doctor said.
According to him, the second patient, who was in the intensive care unit, also had a severe concomitant injury, chest contusion, an open depressed fracture of the sternum and a fracture of the iliac bone of the spinous process of the lumbar vertebra.
The crash of the Mi-8 helicopter happened earlier that day. It was reported that the ship fell into the water while landing. According to preliminary information, the cause of the tragedy could be a piloting error and a technical malfunction.
In total, there were three crew members and 13 passengers on board, including a child. Eight people were saved. From the scene they were taken to a hospital in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Eight more are reported missing.
On the fact of the Mi-8 crash, the Kamchatka Transport Prosecutor’s Office organized an inspection on the issue of flight safety in accordance with the provisions provided for by Russian law. The investigating authorities opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of air transport safety rules resulting in the death of two or more persons”).
