The transport union of Padre Hurtado, Peñaflor and Melipilla will have a meeting with the Seremi de Transportes after announcing that this Monday they will only operate until 4:30 p.m. due to complaints of working conditions that affect their officials.
This Monday, the drivers of the Talagante, Bupesa (Peñaflor), and Melipilla fleet lines will work until 4:30 p.m., since they accuse a series of problems that have not been solved by the transport authorities.
This measure will generate a change in the usual schedules of the routes.
In conversation with Expreso Bío Bío de La Radio, Yuri Vejar, president of the National Federation of Freight Transport Workers and Related Passengers of Chile (Fenatratch) explained the change in schedule of the routes and the low subsidy that the Government would be giving them for tickets for the elderly and students .
“People want to keep their schedule, there are sick people affected by the system due to the government’s lack of reaction. People do not threaten or strike, but rather what the law says is complied with“, said the leader.
He also explained that the drivers report that they have even worked up to 15 hours, which almost doubles their established schedule. Meanwhile, Vejar said that one of the main issues is about the subsidization of tickets for the elderly and students.
In the words of the interviewee, those tickets must be paid for by bus drivers. “The driver does not receive a subsidy for the ticket reduction, the percentage loss suffered by the driver, affects him and no one else. It is not the same as Transantiago, where all tickets are subsidized by the Government”, said the president of the organization.
This afternoon the municipality of Padre Hurtado, in the face of contingency, will make available buses of approach from 16:30 hours. “The conditions have to solve the transportation problem of rural communes, they cannot spend paying such a high fare,” lamented Vejar.
So far the organizations have had only one meeting with the authorities virtually; however, this midday they will meet with the Transport and Labor Seremi to reach an agreement.
