The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) has carried out the arrest and dismemberment of the criminal cell “Familia Michoacana”, especially with the capture of several of those responsible in the Coatepec Harinas massacre that left 13 police officers deadsaid the head of the agency, Alejandro Gómez Sánchez.

In an interview, he did not specify the number of those responsible for these events recorded in the Llano Grande area; Nevertheless, He advanced that not only have they advanced with their arrest, but that several have even been linked to the process.

“We already have several people who have been arrested, some perpetrators and others who we know belong to the Michoacan Family, it is an area in which this organization is operating.”

Gómez Sánchez specified that among the detainees there are people who have dedicated themselves to “hawking” and drug distribution in the area and highlighted the reduction in the presence of this group through research. “We have been diminishing the capacities of this organization.”

The event shocked public opinion at the national level due to the level of strength of the group and the death of the elements, since at that time they were carrying out a patrol in the region. Intelligence reports indicated that days before the attack, the authorities had seized the weapons, vehicles and buildings of this criminal group; However, it stood out that there were even logs with the operation of the cell and details of other bases, which they presume triggered the attack.

It should be remembered that the southern area of the Mexican state has been the scene of multiple attacks and encounters between security elements and criminal cellsBesides, it is presumed that the region is largely governed by these groupings. It is noteworthy that the perimeter borders the states of Guerrero and Michoacán, both leaders when it comes to organized crime.
