While rumors of a redesign are many, a politician currently in government could well take the place of Édouard Philippe. Check out who it is.
Since the pension reform and even more since the management of the epidemic of coronavirus, the rumours of a change of Prime Minister are very strong. But then remains the question : who to replace Edward Philip ?Europe 1 has suggested that a minister was very much party to become head of government. It is Jean-Yves Le Drian. “According to several sources at the top of the State, the name of the minister of foreign Affairs returns with insistence to the post of Prime minister in the event of a redesign, “explained Michaël Darmon, political journalist, on the 1st of June.
If Jean-Yves Le Drian is since 2017, the French minister of foreign Affairs, former minister of Defense under François Hollande is also interested in many economic and social topics. He has been president of the Brittany regional council from 2015 to 2017. The advantage to Emmanuel Macron to appoint Jean-Yves Le Drian the prime minister would be to replace the majority to the centre left because the minister is from the socialist party, unlike Édouard Philippe, from the right. In addition, Jean-Yves Le Drian is one of those rare ministers popular, including among voters of the right.
Many other names are circulating
Remains to be seen whether this assumption will eventually be selected and even if a remaniment will take place. Because this is for now only a rumor. And nothing says that Jean-Yves Le Drian would accept it. “He is very happy at this position and considers that Edward Philippe did a good job“, had entrusted the entourage of Jean-Yves Le Drian to BFMTV. While tensions broke out between Edward and Philippe Emmanuel Macron during the outbreak of coronavirus, other names are circulating to become Prime minister as well as those members of the government, Bruno Mayor, Gérald Darmanin, or Jean-Michel Blanquer.
