EP UK Investments Ltd, which covers EPH's UK assets, has won a fifteen-year contract in a capacity auction to operate a new combined cycle power plant with an installed capacity of 1,700 megawatts (MW) and battery storage with an installed capacity of 299 MW. “We are proud that, once completed, this power station will be one of the most modern in Europe and will make a vital contribution to ensuring the reliability of electricity supplies, especially at a time when renewable sources are unable to cover the UK's electricity consumption,” said EPH board member Jan Springl.

The power station and storage facility are to be located on the site of the former Eggborough coal-fired power station, which was decommissioned in 2018. The site was acquired by EPH in 2015 through the acquisition of Eggborough Power Ltd.

The Group EPH employs more than 24,000 people through its companies. The holding includes over 70 companies throughout Europe involved in electricity production, energy transport and storage, and logistics. According to the latest data for the year 2021, the operating profit (EBITDA) of the EPH group amounted to about 2.3 billion euros (about 54.6 billion CZK at the current exchange rate) and consolidated sales of 18.9 billion euros (about 448.3 billion CZK).
