According to the organizers of the festival, McGregor belongs to extraordinary actors. He started his acting career in the 90s, when he got his first roles in TV series, but above all he started working with director Danny Boyle. He won the Empire Award for Best British Actor for his role in the black comedy Shallow Grave (1994). Their next joint film, Trainspotting (1996), was an international sensation. The adaptation of Irwin Welsh's novel became the second most successful British film of all time.

In 1999, McGregor opened the way to major Hollywood films. He first appeared as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Lucas' Star Wars, made the war drama Black Hawk Down (2001) with Ridley Scott and the musical Moulin Rouge with Baz Luhrmann! (2001). The film won two Oscars and Ewan McGregor received the European Film Award for his contribution to world cinema and his first Golden Globe nomination.

Ewan McGregor's acting skills were gradually sought after by other famous directors such as Tim Burton, Michael Bay, Marc Forster or Woody Allen, and his collaboration with George Lucas continued. In 2016, McGregor made his directorial debut when he adapted Philip Roth's American Idyll to the screen, creating the title role at the same time. A year later, he returned to work with Danny Boyle to revive the fate of the heroes of the cult film after 20 years in T2 Trainspotting. Ewan McGregor is currently filming the historical mini-series Gentlemen in Moscow, which he is also producing.

Vikander started her artistic career as a child. Before breaking through with her debut role in Lisa Lansgeth's Beloved (2010), she appeared in a number of theater productions and the Swedish TV series Andra Avenyn. The historical drama A Royal Affair, in which she appeared alongside Mads Mikelsen, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

The following year, she appeared alongside Keira Knightley and Jude Law in the adaptation of Anna Karenina (2012) directed by Joe Wright. She earned Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for her portrayal of the female robot Ava in the sci-fi psychological thriller Ex Machina. She won the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the drama The Danish Girl. In 2016, she appeared alongside Matt Damon and Tommy Lee Jones in the big-budget action thriller Jason Bourn. In 2018, Alicia Vikander embodied the iconic action heroine Lara Croft in the action film Tomb Raider.
