The mayor of La Matanza, Fernando Espinosa, shared part of the Summer Camp Day with girls and boys at the Alberto Ballestrini Sports Center, located in Lomas del Mirador, one of the places where leisure and educational activities are being developed. Summer 2021 season.

On this occasion, the colonies have the specificity of being minimized due to the context of COVID-19, with a total of 10,000 settlers, divided into bubbles of fifteen boys, with compliance with protocol and permanent sanitation. As it is every year, the municipality provides transportation, food, logistics, organization, buildings and swimming pools.

“We are very happy with the summer camps because, in the midst of the worst humanitarian crisis of the last hundred years, we have finally decided to implement the colonies with all appropriate care and protocols to be able to somehow provide care for the needs of our children and teens,” said the community chair.

More than 10,000 boys from La Matanza, from 7 to 16 years old, participate in the summer camps. This is done through bubbles of fifteen children, with three teachers, plus an educational buddy in each of these bubbles. In other words, for every fifteen boys who participate in the colonies, there are four adults who care for them, sterilize them and constantly remind them of the protocols and care, “explained Fernando Espinosa.

In addition to the sporting activities and cultural activities that have been added to it this time, we are working to develop educational activities so that ten months after the pandemic, we can renew and re-evaluate learning in the year that children have not reached. Hand in hand with the teachers. For this reason, we add science, technology, mathematics and language activities, ”the mayor said.

Fernando Espinosa explained in detail: “In summer camps we take care of the physical and emotional health of 10 thousand children, and provide them with all possible joy and happiness, in addition to the fact that they do not miss school training,” adding: One of the great problems that the epidemic has brought on the boys is, because of their inability to be With their affection, their friends, and their classmates at school every day. Therefore, from these colonies, within the framework of a new normal situation due to the epidemic, we want to transmit and bring joy to the children, and the truth is that, as the mayor, there is nothing that fills my soul and heart more than seeing it in the smile of joy and happiness of children. ”

The Colonies is responsible for the Secretariat for Sports, Tourism and Recreation, in coordination with the Secretariat for Science, Technology and Educational Policies, the Ministers of Public Health and Social Development, the Municipal Rescue Protection School, and the Culture Trust, among others.

At the end of the itinerary, Mayor Fernando Espinosa stressed the need to continue to take care of himself and stressed: We are carrying out the largest vaccination campaign in the history of our country, but the epidemic is not over. We must all step up prevention measures with individual and collective responsibility, and maintain care to stop the invisible enemy, called COVID-19.
