Ferrara: the strange case of the Northern League councilor investigated for threatening letters to the deputy mayor Lodi

For two months he received threatening letters: less than a dozen with threats of various kinds on a personal level; in two envelopes also some bullets. It is the strange story that involved the deputy mayor of Ferrara Nicola Lodi, said Naomo. Lodi seemed to be the victim of a political rival who had not been able to accept the heavy defeat of the left in Ferrara in 2019. But, thanks to the Digos investigations, it turns out that the author of those letters is instead his protégé, Rossella Arquà.

The police searched the councilor’s home to look for material that could lead to the contents of those letters, made with letters made up of newspaper clippings. And the results of that inspection led to Arquà’s resignation, as he reports The Rest of the Carlino. Then she went on to formalize her resignation from the office of councilor in the town hall and those of militant to the party. The local edition of the newspaper makes it known that the resigning woman has also already been heard by the investigators.

Rossella Arquà would not have done everything alone. Indeed, according to him, it would have been maneuvered. She herself declares: “I made mistakes, someone asked me to make these mistakes here. The idea of sending the letters was not mine ”. It should be added, however, that there are at least two other Lega Nord councilors victims of anonymous letters. The authors are still unknown and Rossella denies having written them. Certainly the tension does not seem destined to diminish: when the scandal erupts, coincidence has it that four Molotov cocktails are found, fortunately without flammable liquid, on the walls. A “disturbing fact” decrees the deputy mayor, who also has the responsibility for security.

Who would be the principal then? The lawyer chosen by the woman, Fabio Anselmo, anticipates that the name or names will be made in front of the prosecutor during the interrogation. “I am not a danger, I am not a criminal as they want me to pass”, resumes Arquà, who suggests that the affair will have future repercussions: “If I resign, Naomo Lodi must also resign”.

Now there is waiting for the interrogation in Arquà previously scheduled for last July 2 and skipped at the last moment, no one knows yet for some reason. It is likely to be rescheduled, perhaps as early as next week. The face to face with the prosecutor Isabella Cavallari will also depend on the outcome of the investigations.
