Prague – Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) said today in the Otázky Václav Moravec program on Czech television that the government will not introduce general regulatory fees for doctors. According to him, the Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek (TOP 09) previously only talked about emergency room and urgent care fees.

Dnes Válek told the Young Front that people abuse the emergency income of hospitals. According to him, the fee could be paid, for example, by patients who do not first go to a general practitioner, but directly to a medical facility. The minister expects specific proposals from the Government's National Economic Council (NERV).
People currently pay 90 crowns for the use of medical and dental emergency services. In addition to emergency rooms, the Czech Republic also has emergency services for medical facilities, which according to Válk, people overuse.
“The Minister of Health did not talk about regulatory fees in general. He only talked about regulatory fees for emergency rooms and emergency services, which is a long-term problem and the request of the Czech Medical Chamber. By the way, the fee is in the emergency room, so we are not talking about anything else here,” noted Fiala. “Our government will not introduce regulatory fees for doctors,” the prime minister added.
Czechs started paying regulatory fees in January 2008 – 30 crowns at the doctor's office and for an item on a prescription, 60 crowns per day in a hospital and 90 crowns for an emergency room crowns. The individual fees then changed over time and disappeared. For the last time, since January 2015, the obligation to pay 30 kroner fees in ambulances and pharmacies has ceased to exist. Only the fee of 90 crowns for the emergency room remained.
The head of the Czech Medical Chamber, Milan Kubek, stated in CT in November that the fee for the emergency room does not fulfill a regulatory function. According to him, it could increase from 90 to 200 crowns. Válek said at the time that if the chamber presented the proposal to him, he would open a discussion about it in the government.
