Hradec Králové – Former football representative Václav Pilař will play for Hradec Králové after the end of his contract in Pilsen, where he is returning after eleven years. The 34-year-old midfielder signed a two-year contract with his parent club. East Bohemia announced this on its website.
Pilař completed his third engagement in Pilsen. Last season, after his return, he played 25 competitive matches for Victoria, including matches in the Champions League. Before that, he worked in the west of Bohemia in the year 2011/12 and in the years 2014-2018. He helped the Pilsen club to two league titles in 2015 and 2018.
“Vašek needs to be thanked for everything he did for Viktorka. When he was returning a year ago, he had a big dream of playing in the Champions League once more, and we succeeded. We wrote another unforgettable story in the club's history. On behalf of the whole club, I wish him all the best for his next engagement,” Viktoria CEO Adolf Šádek said on the club's website.
During his previous time in Pilsen, he Pilař earned a job in the Bundesliga, but he did not make it in Wolfsburg or on loan in Freiburg due to lingering health problems. In the Czech league, he has a record of 186 matches and 23 goals. He played 22 matches for the national team and scored five times.
