Kyiv – A Russian missile hit a residential building in Zaporozhye in the south of Ukraine on the night of today. At least four people were killed and eight others were injured in the attack, the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine reported. According to the Russian occupation administration, the missile belonged to the Ukrainian air defense.

“According to preliminary data, four people were killed, eight were injured and another five are missing, including one child,” the prosecutor's office said, adding that investigators are still working on the scene and a rescue operation is underway.
Police said this morning , that the strike destroyed more than ten apartments in a five-story building while most of the residents were asleep, while the debris and shock wave also damaged neighboring buildings.
The secretary of the Zaporizhia town hall, Anatolij Kurtjev, who now also holds the office of mayor, previously stated that the building was, according to him, “almost completely destroyed.” According to the Zaporozhye regional military administration, Russia apparently used a missile of the S-300 air defense system.
Vladimir Rogov, a member of the administration installed by Russia in the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region, said, according to RIA Novosti, that the missile belonged to the Ukrainian air defense, which was trying prevent a Russian attack.
The conflicting claims of the warring parties could not be independently verified, the S-300 missiles are used by both Ukraine and Russia. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly said that Russian forces are using S-300 missiles – originally intended for air defense – to shell Ukrainian ground targets. In this use, these missiles were not particularly accurate, at least initially.
Last November, an apparently Ukrainian S-300 air defense missile landed in eastern Poland, killing two people.
Russian forces were preparing to new attacks in the Zaporozhye region and on the southern front in the Kherson region, the Ukrainian military said today. According to her, more than 40 cities and villages were shelled, including Kherson and other cities on the west bank of the Dnieper River, which Russia left in November.
