Friday the 13th: Jason Voorhees’ five best movies, according to Rotten Tomatoes

Directed by Sean S. Cunningham, Friday the 13th – known in Spanish-speaking countries as Friday the 13th – hit the big screen in 1980. Classified as a slasher, a subgenre of horror movies, the story frightened millions of people with a protagonist hidden under a hockey mask named Jason voorhees, who became an icon of popular culture.

In fact, its arrival in theaters caused a huge success among fans and casual consumers of horror, as its plot made its way through 12 installments. The last one was released in 2009 and, although it performed better than some of its predecessors, critics considered it a “rehash.”

In that sense, here we present the five best films of the franchise, as approved by Rotten Tomatoes.

Friday the 13th (64%) – 1980

In 1957, a young man named Jason drowns in a lake near Camp Crystal Lake. The following year, two councilors are assassinated. In 1980, a descendant of the original owners reopened the compound with the help of people who are murdered one by one by someone mysterious.

Friday the 13th, part VI: Jason lives (48%) – 1986

Tommy Jarvis goes to the graveyard to dispose of Jason Voorhees’ body once and for all, but inadvertently brings it back to life. The newly revived assassin seeks revenge again and the young man may be the only one capable of defeating him.

Therefore, the teenager decides to resurrect her father, but accidentally wakes Jason up. Now it’s up to Sheperd to use his gifts to stop Jason and his medic.
