Next e.GO Mobile is preparing to invest 140 million euros in a Bulgarian factory. We are talking about a German start-up specialized in the production of electric cars, which is therefore preparing to start assembly activities also in Bulgaria, as announced by the Bulgarian economy minister Kiril Petkov. Petkov himself also added that the start of production has been set in the northern city of Lovech in two years, and will see the employment of approximately 1,000 people.
Elettriche, three-digit growth in Italy
The Bulgarian economy minister recently signed a memorandum for the new investment with the German start-up, the latter satisfied with the agreement reached. “We want to make sure that people can have access to one economic, clean and sustainable mobility“, explained Ali Vezvaei, chairman of Next e.GO Mobile’s board of directors. Accessibility is therefore the watchword: remember that the start-up will undertake to produce small electric cars so as to be able to reach the majority of the population. In Bulgaria, in this regard, the German start-up should assemble the e.GO Life and e.GO Life Cross models. For the occasion, the Bulgarian government has already promised to support Next e.GO Mobile with funds of 34 million euros, divided into three tranches: the first will be paid when the start-up starts producing its electric, and the last when its sales reach 20,000 cars per year.
Low cost electric, the German e.Go tries
“Our production facility will allow us to have economically sustainable micro-plants with one annual production of only 20,000 cars – announced a few months ago Guenther Schuh, head of Next.e.GO Mobile – In this way we will be able to address all relevant markets. It will be possible to copy and paste these systems, leaving room for localizations in the various markets. We will have a car and a bodywork that they will last together for 50 years. We will need a dedicated workshop for this type of facility, but no other expensive tools or paint shops will be needed ”.
