Global Currencies: Dollar retreats from rivals, after payroll weaker than expected – ISTOÉ MONEY

The dollar traded in fall against rival currencies on Friday, pressured by the employment report (payroll) of August in the United States, which showed job creation well below the market estimate. The releases of Purchasing Managers Indices (PMIs) from some of the world’s major economies were also tracked by traders.

The DXY index, which measures the variation of the dollar against six strong pairs, closed at a daily low of 0.21%, and a weekly low of 0.70%, at 92.035 points. In the late afternoon in New York, the euro appreciated to $1.1889, the pound rose to $1.3874, while the US currency depreciated to 109.66 yen.
