Prague – Richard Müller, 7krát3, Lenny, Vypsaná Fixa, Prago Union and others will perform at this year's 32nd award ceremony of the Czech Music Academy Anděl on April 15 at the Výstaviště in Prague. Actor Kryštof Bartoš will host the evening live on Czech Television. As in previous years, the awards ceremony will also be enlivened by musical numbers performed by artists from among the nominees. Nikol Klevcovová informed ČTK about this on behalf of the organizer.
“Every year, at the Anděl Awards, we celebrate Czech music in all its breadth and reward those whose recordings in a given year were evaluated by the Czech Academy of Music as the most successful. At the same time, our goal is to present this work to the public in an attractive form and to devote as much space as possible to those who this evening belongs – to the musicians themselves,” said the producer of the Anděl awards Lucie Hájková.
With regard to the number of nominations, the favorites for this year's awards are after Miroslav Žbirka, who is nominated in memoriam in four categories, the singer 7krát3 and the band Vypsaná Fixa with three nominations, or the singer Pam Rabbit, who, thanks to her debut, can become this year's discovery and the best solo performer. All these musicians will appear on stage at least as performers.
“This year, too, we are trying to approach each performer individually and create an original artistic concept for each song that will be heard during the evening. The form of the live performances, which will be created only for the given evening, will be published in the form of live video clips on the YouTube channel of the Anděl Awards, ” said art director Matyáš Vorda.
Academics voted for the Anděl awards to decide on the best recordings released in 2022 in fourteen main and genre categories and on the new Hall of Fame laureate. With the exception of the last mentioned category, voting was done in a three-round system. Traditionally, the person who collected the most votes from academics in the first round will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In total, over 440 academics and experts from across the music industry voted.
For the fourth year already, the Anděl awards include a multi-genre popularity award called the Coca-Cola fan award. The public can vote for its winner, chosen from all the nominees across categories, until April 9 on the competition page. The Anděl awards have been awarded annually by the music academy since 1991. Since 1995, they have been realized under the auspices of the Czech National Group of the International Federation of the Music Industry, and since 1997 they have been symbolized by the statue of Angel playing tricks by the sculptor Jaroslav Róna.
