Guy Bedos passed away on may 28, 2020. Throughout his life he was marked by the death of his ex-wife, Sophie Daumier.
In his lifetime, Guy Bedos has succumbed to the charm of several women. After marrying Karen Blanguernon, the mother of his first daughter, Leslie, he is smitten by the actress Sophie Daumier. They were married from 1965 to 1977 and together they had a daughter, Mélanie. The humorist, had adopted her son, Philip, at the age of 9 years old at the time. Their complicity was so strong that they are even mounted on the stage as a duo. They are given the replica in the skit The pick-up in 1973.
Despite their divorce – Guy Bedos was then remade his life with Joëlle Bercot, which will be his last wife – they have always maintained a warm relationship. In fact, it has always been present to the mother of his two children, suffering from the rare disease and the hereditary Huntington’s chorea. It is characterised by a degeneration in neurological and causes severe motor dysfunction, cognitive and psychiatric disorders, loss of autonomy, and death. Sophie Daumier died on January 1, 2004.
Guy Bedos was very touched by the death of his ex-wife. On the occasion of the promotion of his autobiography, I will remember everything, in 2015, the latter was back on the tragic fate of the actress in the columns of VOD. “I stole from Simone Signoret this sentence : ‘I do désaime not’. So there it is, I love my wife today and it is the life to the death between us, but I never stopped thinking about Sophie“, he confided.
Their son Philip died of the same disease
Unfortunately, the son of Sophie Daumier was also suffering from Huntington’s disease. “His voice changes, the flexibility of his playing of guitarist disappears, its difficult for him to finish his songs and his compositions led him to lock himself in the silence”, told his family in a letter published by France on Sunday shortly after his departure. He died a few years after his mother, December 11, 2010.
