SNOW Météo France urges skiers to be careful as conditions are ripe for avalanches in the Alps, where three people have died in a week

This is the third fatal accident in a week in the Alps, proof that the snowpack is currently very unstable. A 55-year-old skier has died Saturday in an avalanche at Vars, in the Hautes-Alpes. The 50-year-old was caught in a lava flow in the afternoon, while off-piste, under the peak of Chabri&ères, a place accessible by the ski lifts of the station, indicated ; CRS Hautes-Alpes.
Call for; caution
It has been found died by paramedics, as reported by The Dauphiné Freed. This is the third death in an avalanche in a week in the Alps, all sectors combined, said the Hautes-Alpes company. The other two deadly avalanches took place on Monday at; Enchastrayes (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) and Wednesday at Pic Blanc du Galibier (Savoie).
“ the greatest caution, the snowpack is currently conducive to avalanches,” warn rescuers. Weather France also reported on Saturday a “high risk of triggering an avalanche by skiers” and recommended “the greatest caution (…) when practicing mountain activities off marked and open trails” on the Hautes-Alpes, Ubaye and Oisans mountains.
