Prague – The High Court in Prague closed the long-standing and complicated dispute over electricity between the company ČEZ Prodej and the Railway Administration. On Tuesday, he decided with finality that the administrator of the domestic railway network must pay the semi-state energy company lost profits in the amount of 727 million crowns, plus 664 million crowns in interest, informs today's Hospodářské noviny (HN).

The case concerns money for uncollected traction electricity. The railway administration ordered electricity for all railway carriers for several years in advance from the subsidiary of the ČEZ energy company. Subsequently, however, the law was changed, which allowed carriers to purchase electricity directly and independently. This procedure was cheaper for the carrier, so they used it. The railway administration thus took and paid only a small part of the originally agreed amount of traction energy.

In the case, a number of contradictory decisions were gradually made. “We have no doubt that the defendant violated the obligation to take the specified amount of traction energy,” the judge and reporter Filip Havrda stated according to HN.

Both entities are fighting several disputes regarding the consumption of electricity.
